The footprint ceremony really started when Sid Grauman's pet duck ran up the left
side steps to the balcony section of the theater ..... The cement was just finished and Grandpa threw a fit ... He and Sid agreed to leave them there ....
Later that day (1926) Grandpa Klossner placed his Handprint and initials "JWK" in the
fresh cement on the lower right corner of the Right-hand marque where it remains today (2005) ...
When Sid saw this, he asked what Grandpa was doing and was told this was the
way the Klossner family Masons "signed" their work ....
The idea sprung into the Footprint ceremony and is still carried on today.
